Charles is a 1 year old male English Cocker Spaniel cross Poodle. This is the lovely Charles a, larger than average, male Coker cross poodle. He is an absolutely stunning, robust and healthy youngster. Whilst there is no denying his handsome and cute looks, Charles is a vibrant and highly energetic dog who needs a full on program of exercise to meet his needs. He is constantly on the go and has done very well in his foster home, quickly learning a daily routine including being well behaved at night time, travelling well by car, he has an excellent appetite and is reliably housetrained.
Charles is used to the lead and is getting better with practice. He understands the basic commands of sit, paw and wait and his recall on the walk is again improving. This is a very trainable, enthusiastic and exuberant dog. Charles needs owners who are experienced in training a young high energy dog and the process that has been started in foster care needs to be continued. Whilst Charles is certainly cute and cuddly, those who want a lap dog should look elsewhere. Ideally Charles needs to be homed with a well behaved but playful other dog or dogs, a variety of breeds would fit the bill.
Charles did not receive the right training when he was a younger pup and this, coupled with a lengthy period in kennels has left him with territorial control issues. The foster carers have been working with him successfully to change his mind set and this process needs to be reinforced in his new forever home. Hence the need for experienced owners. Charles is very keen to please humans and is very friendly to both people and dogs alike. He has boundless energy and so it would be best if he had a reasonable sized garden to romp around in.
He needs owners who are around most of the day although he can successfully be left for a couple of hours or so if in the presence of other dogs. Charles loves human interaction and is a willing participant in training. He will need plenty to stimulate him in the way of toys and things to chew. He is not destructive but can reach the top of the worktops!
We are seeking to place him in a home without children and it would be advantageous if there was a man of the house as Charles really responds well to men. Charles has been neutered, vaccinated and micro chipped. His worming and flea treatment are up to date. Charlie is being fostered near Hastings in East Sussex.
