My name is Barney (or it might be Finn, that’s what my foster mum calls me because I totally ignore her when she calls me Barney!) I am a handsome 2.5 year old English Cocker Spaniel Cross. I am an anxious boy, especially around strangers, and I like to take my time to get to know you. If you try to rush me I get worried and I growl and sometimes snap ( I did bite once ) I like to be cuddled if I ask but I also like my own space. I like to play with toys but don’t like it if you try to take them away from me. Sometimes when I’m very worried or scared I growl to tell you to keep away.

I like walks and wear a harness, foster mum says I am a very good boy and don’t pull, and I do like a good sniff. I like sniffing games to earn my food. I get on with other dogs once I know them (there are four at my foster home) although I really prefer the girls. I don’t like to be left alone, and I chase my tail and look for lights and shadows to make myself feel better. I’m getting better with this already as foster mum keeps giving me things to do instead.

Foster mum says she sees a lot of potential in me, and she gives me lots of space and boundaries so I don’t need to be anxious. I travel well in the car and I like learning new tricks, I can already give a paw and roll over. I have learned to put my own muzzle on to keep me safe at the vet (I get very worried at the groomer too).

Barney needs an experienced home who will continue the fantastic work of his foster mum Carole. A home with no children, preferable another dog and preferably female. A home with people home most of the day to stimulate and entertain him but who also know when he wants to be left alone. He is not cat, bird or small furries tested. He really is a lovely lovely boy who just needs someone to give him time and space and to allow him the thrive. Barney is in foster in South East London and he is neutered, vaccinated, chipped, wormed and flead. Adoption subject to meet and greet, homecheck and adoption donation of £200. Applications via the forms section of the website please.
